Russian Solitaire: what to know before playing

Look at the complete hand before deciding. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Select cards directly on the tableau and work through a full solo deal. Take the next action only when the current step is clear. Work at your own pace. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns. Use another round to revisit a decision.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Build familiarity through play

For a calm first round, focus on one decision. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot. Take the next action only when the current step is clear.

The purpose of your moves

Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Return to the explanation when a decision is unclear. A clear plan starts with the current position.

The order of play

  1. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Move exposed cards onto suit foundations in the stated rank order.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Keyboard and screen controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. The same rule applies on a phone and on a computer. Use the rule sheet as a reference.

A useful example

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Use another round to revisit a decision.

An important reminder

Treat this as a chance to practise one rule. Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Use another round to revisit a decision.
